PenguinShutdown v0.4.2 and more SVN news

Another bugfix release is up for PenguinShutdown. Don't use 0.4.1, because it doesn't work. 0.4.2 works, and is pretty much how the final program will be, with the exception that it can still only standby or hibernate the computer.

Also, a rewrite of PenguinClock is in progress (because I realized how bad the code of it was), and the current version is available in the SVN repository.

Bleaaaaaaah.

PenguinShutdown v0.4.1 plus SVN news

Bugfix release on PenguinShutdown, fixing a kinda bit problem. Clicking "Cancel" on the set timer screen caused an unhandled exception, but that's fixed now.

A blank solution for PenguIM is up on SVN now. I also restructured the PenguinShutdown folder, so you might as well just delete and re-checkout the SVN repo. Look for new page on the Docs about how to use our SVN repo.

PenguinShutdown first release (v0.4)

PenguinShutdown is a system tray utility for Windows that sets your computer into either standby or hibernate mode at a specific time or after a given time delay. The complete version (1.0) will have the ability to shut down, restart, log off, hibernate, or standby your computer.

This version is v0.4 because it has 4 features implemented: standby or hibernate, after a time delay or at a specific time. It's available under the Files section and from Subversion.

On SVN and new stuff

Yes, there is a new program coming soon. PenguIM will be a full-featured multi-protocol instant message client for Windows, and we'll have the first alpha releases available in the next month or so...once we've learned a sufficient amount of C#.

Also, we're migrating to Subversion for source control management. Just because we can. We recommend TortoiseSVN.

New site is sort of up. It isn't much more than the old one now, but that'll be fixed soon. Maybe.

PenguinSoft, homepage and new program coming soon

Yeah, I know I haven't done a release of PenguinClock for a while. But now I have a new minio--*ahem* co-programmer, Derek (thedrow), and we've changed PenguinClock to PenguinSoft. And, yes, that means we are going to be doing more programs than just PenguinClock; we have a new one in the works right now, with an early alpha release hopefully by the end of March.

The CVS repository is now working and hopefully organized how Derek and I want. Everything in there is VS2K5...if the solution files don't work, try creating a new solution, overwriting the original solution file, and adding all of the projects for that solution back in. CVS builds will usually be stable and executable.... read more

PenguinClock v0.2 Released

Hehe, less than a week between releases. :P I've been having fun with VS2k5. Anyway, you can now *gasp* CUSTOMIZE the appearance (font and text color) of the current local time, date, and timezone! Remember that if you haven't downloaded the .NET Framework Version 2.0 yet, you need to do so to run PenguinClock. Links are available from the project homepage <http://pengclock.sf.net> and from the Readme file either in the downloadable packages or on the Docs here.... read more

PenguinClock v0.1.1 Released

Now that I've upgraded to Visual Studio 2005, I've decided to pick this back up and actually make it do stuff. Ergo, this is essentially a re-release of v0.1, just written in the 2005 flavor of VB. It also requires the new .NET Framework 2.0 to run, so be sure to get that too (a link is available on the project home page <http://pengclock.sf.net>).

Expect v0.2 in a few weeks, featuring the ability to customize a few time and date format options.
