My research assistants and I have repeatidly received a message that a participant ID is in use even though we've entered a different participant ID at the beginning of the study. Specifically, the message we receive is:
"Subject code [2016-01-25-2pm] already in use for file [data/2016-01-25-2pm/flanker-2016-01-25-2pm.csv]. Choose new code or add session?"
We've tried changing the way we enter participant IDs to eliminate the hyphens but we keep getting the same message after every test in our chain.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Boaz

Boaz,
I think I might know what is happening. If you are getting that error code, this almost definitely means you are re-using a subject code, because it only gives that when it tries to open up a file for saving that already exists. The problem --I think-- is that when the participant entry box in launcher is changed, it doesn't use the value until you accept the entry by hitting enter. You should see that the red outline goes away. In that case, it will use the last code you used previously, instead of the new value. I've fixed this issuein 0.15, which I'm hoping to release in the next few months. In the meantime, if this is the problem, the workaround is to train the RAs to be sure to hit enter after they put in the subject code.

Thanks so much for getting back to me on this! Makes sense. I'll make sure to check this out tomorrow and address this issue with my RAs going forward.
Thanks again!

Hello,
I am having this issue too. However, I am correctly entering the id.
Additionally, if there is no data saved for id 079, the computer will rename my files to that specific id, even when I have correctly entered the id I am trying to save to.
Any ideas?

I'm not clear exactly what is happening. Which task are you using? For most of the tasks, data are saved in a subject-specific folder in the data\ folder. I.e., data\id079\file.csv
