WHAT'S NEW

PeaZip 9.8.0 brings new Themes, and improved flat mode (display all archive's content at once), alongside many improvements and fixes.

This release also adds the ability to directly extract all or selected items to any path in bookmarks, history or breadcrumb without further confirmation.

9.6.0 release introduces Profiles to separately store all configuration and customization data (including preferences, bookmarks, "open with" settings, password manager, etc) for different users, or to set the app for different purposes, or to easily export the profile to another machine.

9.4.0 release introduces support to add, edit, remove archive-level comments in RAR and ZIP/ZIPX files, interactively (Alt+M) and from batch scripts, on single or multiple archives at once even of mixed types.

WHAT'S NEW

9.2.0 release further improves GUI flexibility, with address bar which can be adapted to different styles (Windows/KDE, Gnome, macOS), and tab bar which can be moved above and below the address bar to better match the host system's look and feel.
Handling non-canonical archive types is improved, and it is now possible to open arbitrary files treating them as 7Z, TAR, WIM, or ZIP -based containers.
On Windows platform, McMilk codecs and sfx modules were updated, to support extra compression methods (Brotli, FLZMA2, Lizard, Zstandard...) for .7z and 7z-based sfx archives.... read more

WHAT'S NEW

The new release completes the progress towards the upcoming 9.x line, with many updates both for the UI and under the hood.

Amongst the many improvements, a progress bar is now visible when opening archives, and theming engine was updated to make the application easier to integrate with different desktop environments.

The archive creation / extraction menu was revamped to make easier to add bookmarked or previously visited files and folders, and a new "Add to separate archives" entry is available in app's context menu.... read more

PeaZip 8.6.0 release comes with new themes and improved, easier to customize UI layout, fit for matching the different visual styles of modern versions of all supported systems (Linux, Windows, macOS).
Under the hood, it is now possible to use custom compression pre-sets (either built-in or user defined) from command line and scripts, and to set immediate execution for custom compression pre-sets.

8.5.0 release improves scripting, usage of layouts (defining advanced inclusion and exclusion filters, and optionally input list), and updates compression settings.
PeaZip for macOS now supports macOS-style keyboard shortcuts, integration with context menu (fully scriptable with Automator), full support to "move to trash" deletion, and support for Brotli, Zpaq, and Zstandard backends.
File manager was improved on Linux, with more alternative styles available.
It is now possible to optionally integrate PeaZip in the Windows 11 mini-context menu from .reg examples provided in (peazip)/res/share/batch folder.
Updated backends: 7z 21.07, Pea 1.06, and Zstd 1.5.2.

This release improves CLI and scripting usage, updating archiving and extraction switches, and introduces (peazip)/res/batch folder which contains sample scripts and system integration files (SendTo and freedesktop_integration folders are moved here).
The archive manager can now (optionally) display compression/encryption method, and modified, created, accessed times for each item in archive, and to display number of items contained in each folder.
It is now possible to chose to keep extracted files even in case errors occurred during the extraction.
Working with spanned files was improved (split and merge).
Smart extraction is now available as default action to take at program's startup, alongside already available Open (default), Open as archive, Extract, and Extract here.
This release try to improve user experience on Linux systems, updating installers, improving the automatic configuration of applications for "open with" actions, and displaying more system's paths in the file manager.

This new release adds support for even more archive types, and improves how container file types are managed for browsing and conversion; also, previewing files / folders in archives was improved.
Program's GUI was updated with new style menu (and icons) in status bar to make easier to change look&feel on the fly - i.e. switch from file list to preview images - and auto completion in search.
New password option "Force typing password interactively" allows to create archiving / extraction scripts requiring user feedback rather than running unattended.
It is now possible to customize the default action PeaZip will take double-clicking on an associated file type - open (as usual) or extract it.
PEA is updated to 1.01 version, which improves capabilities to run in background and interact with other applications.
On Windows systems it is possible to create CAB files with integrated makecab.exe, now available as pre-set entry in Advanced tab of Custom archive type screen.... read more

This release introduces PEA 1.00, improves managing temporary files, enhances usability allowing to customize items spacing and zooming, and improves ZPAQ support automatically removing extra nesting levels on extraction.
On Linux systems, interactive extraction is now enabled by default, and Qt5 build is now available packed as DEB and RPM alongside Portable package.

This release introduces (optional) interactive extraction as alternative to classic policy-based unattended extraction.
Preview is improved, as custom file types can be set for "Extract everything for" action, and archives can be created with custom extension.
On Windows, it is now possible to drag and drop extract content directly to third party applications, and taskbar icon's progress bar is now enabled.
