having an empty comment section in view all the time isn't a solution, and I certainly won't press alt+m every time I open an archive to check if it has a comment or not, thus this isn't solved as I said before, if an archive has a comment it should be shown all the time by default, the same behavior as Winrar, otherwise archive comments would've been useless.
Thank you for reply. I am quite confused about these parameter lists, Can we use them during installation? Or are they for users to perform specific Functions after installation? are there any parameters for the options as attached screen shot? Also can please let me know how to achieve it using conf.txt?
There is currently a reduced set of switches that can be passed to the Windows installer, you can find information on https://peazip.github.io/peazip-command-line.html in the section "PeaZip Windows installer syntax examples". If a more fine grained configuration is needed it could be done with other means, i.e. copying a customized conf.txt configuration file after the installation.

Okay thanks for the info. I will need to install a CP/M emulator to extract them then, as well as the old ARJ and PMARC, LBR and Crunch files. PeaZip supports FreeArc ARC format which is not related to the older Sea ARC format. https://peazip.github.io/arc-files-utility.html Probably the files are Sea ARC archives, which are not supported, and PeaZip offers to enter a password to decipher them when listing fails - which is the expected behavior as FreeArc ARC files supports encryption of filenames, so the correct password is needed to browse the archive.
PeaZip insists unprotected ARC file needs a password
PeaZip cannot add all files to the archive.
Thank you for reporting the issue. The file was generated with Pea hashing function, I'll try to improve how the file is written in order to make it compatible with sha256sum.
On linux, "sha256sum" utility does not understand "\r\n" (MSDOS) end of line, but "\n" (LINUX) end of line
Auto extract tar archives with ".tgz" suffix
Thank you for reporting the issue. I've replicated it on a test Windows machine, and I'm working to better understand and possibly fix it. I've not replicated the issue on the non-Windows machines tested so far, which seems to immune to the problem.

Sorry. I forgot to mention that I am using the Linux amd64 QT5 version of PeaZip. I downloaded and installed this package: peazip_9.7.1.LINUX.Qt5-1_amd64.deb Running Debian 12 Bookworm with KDE Plasma.
Sorry. I forgot to mention that I am using the Linux amd64 QT5 version of PeaZip. I downloaded and installed this package: peazip_portable-9.7.1.LINUX.Qt5.x86_64.tar.gz Running Debian 12 Bookworm with KDE Plasma.
PeaZip blocks all mouse input after opening some files inside a password encrypted 7z archive
Fixed, I've re-generated the file with lower case hash values.
@giorgiotani hey, I am getting this on Debian 12: $ sha256sum -c -w --ignore-missing peazip-SHA256.txt sha256sum: peazip-SHA256.txt: 1: improperly formatted SHA256 checksum line peazip_portable-9.7.1.LINUX.GTK2.x86_64.tar.gz: OK sha256sum: WARNING: 1 line is improperly formatted
I think the SHA sums must be lowercase. I converted the left column in the file to lowercase, and then the warning is gone. Can you please generate the file with lowercase SHA sums? Thanks!
Excellent, thank you!
Checksum file(s) for released binaries
It was added to the GitHub release a standard formatted SHA256.txt file, containing hash values and filenames of all packages in the release. In this way hash values will be preserved for each release, starting from current 9.7,1. The file for the most recent release is also linked in the Changelog page for ease of access.
Infinity start loop if Save history is unchecked on 9.7.0
Issue has been fixed in 9.7.,1 update.
Thank you for clarifying the issue. File tools runs a separate executable, which was originally intended as standalone utility, and currently it does not read PeaZip's configuration. I'll try to improve this aspect in future.
Thank you for your quick response! I tried all your advices before, but now I discovered my problem, caused by a different file handling of PeaZip. I changed the setting to Base64. But then I made the hash check with PeaZip context menu in Windows Explorer, where the result is always shown as hex (no matter which option is chosen in the PeaZip settings.) In a new try I made the hash check within PeaZip File manager, which respects the setting and shows desired Base64 - which works! Suggestion: Implement...
Unable to use keyfile hash to open encrypted zip
PeaZip hashing tool by default shows hash values in hexadecimal form. You can set the option to show hash values as Base64 in main menu > Options > Settings, File manager tab, last item "Display results as". You can verify the hash value string being passed, prepended to password, in the Console tab of archiving and extraction screens.
9.7.1 update will be published in a few days
Unable to use keyfile hash to open encrypted zip
When can we expect a working Windows version? This error makes PeaZip 9.7.0 (updated from 9.6.0 and also deinstalled and reinstalled) completely unusable for me ... and, I expect, many , many other Windows users around the world! At least, the official Download for Windows should deliver version 9.6.0 until a fixed 9.7.1 (or so) is available.
Thank you for the suggestion. SHA-256 hash values for last version's packages is currently published on Changelog page https://peazip.github.io/changelog.html but having a file containing hashes for each release seems a better idea, as the information in this way will be preserved for each release. I'll consider about a change for the next update.

Add Dark theme
Support for Windows 10 and later systems' dark mode was added in 9.7.0. Now the application supports both dark Windows Themes (as in pre-Windows 10 systems, and using Hogh Contrast mode) and the W10+ dark mode. Dark mode is now supported on all target systems.

Thank you for the feedback. I've accepted the invitation earlier today.
Great! I've filed a request here, and they've invited your account. Please accept the invite on GitHub within the next few days, as it does expire after a week.

Running peazip binary from console will provide information about the error, usually missing dependencies. By the way, does the GTK2 version runs?
The packages published on PeaZip website are generic, not meant for a specific distro / version, I would recommend to firstly serach for a package in the repositories of your distribution if possible. I can suggest two alternative workarounds: run the installation from console, so more information about the error (and possible solutions) will be prompted use PeaZip Portable so no installation is needed

The GitHub username is peazip, https://github.com/peazip On Flathub I have an active account which is linked to this GitHub username.
Thanks for the quick follow-up! If you can provide me with a GitHub username, I can request the Flathub admins give you access to the Flatpak manifest. At that point, logging into Flathub with the same GitHub account will enable you to perform verification.

Thank you very much for the feedback. The Flatpak package for PeaZip is provided by third parts and currently I've not commit access to https://github.com/flathub/io.github.peazip.PeaZip nor I have apps linked to mu Flathub account. I'll try to get more information about this topic to understand if I can undergo the verification process for PeaZip.
