The installation process of system itself went fine but
when I try to install any packages from inside MacOS I
always get the message from Installer: Open Failed
"Couldn't open __", where __ is any .pkg or .mpkg
package I choose. Copying from CD to hard drive and
trying to install from there didn't help as well :( I
was planning to port my very own software to MacOSX
using PearPC but it's impossible without the
development stuff.

Installer log says something about not being able to
instantiate package and when run from terminal about missing
.info file and invalid package path. It all happens not onIy
with Xcode packages but with everything on the DVD iso
(including base system packages). I wonder how this is
possible if the whole system was installed using the same
    packages ???

Wow, this seems to be the same issue as in report number
1205530: ISO >2 GB. When I used "nativecdrom" option and
mounted DVD iso using Daemon Tools it worked.

    Try XCode 2.1. Success-story here.
