I installed v1.2.1 of PDFwriter for Mac on a Macbook Pro running Mac OS X v10.8.5.

The program successfully installed without any errors. I printed an Excel 2011 worksheet using the PDFwriter as the "printer", but cannot find the resulting PDF file.

The Readme.pdf for the PDFwriter for Mac indicates that the PDF files are saved to /Users/Shared/PDFwriter and that to go to /Users/Shared/PDFwriter to "please open Finder, select your Macintosh HD and then go into Users - Shared - PDFwriter".

I'm new to the Mac OS X, but for the life of me I cannot find this directory on my harddrive. After I open "FInder", there is no "Macintosh HD" to select. All I see is a list of "Favorites" (including my documents which does not include the PDF folder), a list of shared devices (printers & other computers), and my devices (external drives). And when I search for the folder, my Mac does not find one.

    Any help?

    Hi Robert,
I'm using OSX 10.7 so my file format may be different but, try the following. If it doesn't work, take your Macbook Pro to an Apple store or call one and they can help.
Open Finder then look for "Devices." The first heading on my computer is "Richard's iMac." If you have a similar file, click on it and you should find "Macintosh HD." Open it and you should find "Users-Shared-PDFwriter". Attached to the PDFwriter folder is the folder that stores your printed documents.
I encourage you to get an app called "Hazel" by Noodlesoft. It costs $28 but is invaluable. Without Hazel installed, every time you print a doc with PDFwriter, you will have to navigate back to the folder that stores it. Hazel allows you to write rules for any folder on your computer. For instance if you print an excel spreadsheet with PDFwriter called "2013 Mortgage Payments" (or whatever) Hazel will monitor the PDFwriter folder and when it appears, Hazel will move it to any folder you designate on your computer. If you also set up "Growl" you will get a notification on your desktop when the file has been moved. You can do the same with your downloads folder. Good luck! Richard

Thx. I found the pdf inside /Users/Shared/PDFwriter

I think the PDFwriter should ask the user where to put the pdf as an option, aswell as naming the file. At least it should be possible to configure where to always put your pdf's.
