#1 can't convert files - error virtual dub

This request is copied from public forum loaded 2/5/07 - I've had no response there. I've downloaded latest version of pdconverter to convert files to run on 'MyMusix' portable media player PD-6021. When I try to convert a wmv file, it only gets halfway through conversion, then stops, displaying 'error: Virtual Dub'. If I try to convert avi files, I get same thing but message 'Error: Mencoder'. I'm running Windows XP with service pack 2 and most of latest updates. I have double checked instructions in manual which came with player and those on website and can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. All settings are as per manual. Can anyone help me with this please?
