Hi,

several times now, I had setup problems with ad-hoc
wireless networks, which came from misconfiguration,
where one of the clients was set to the IEEE standard ad
hoc mode, and the other was set to the old, proprietary
Lucent ad hoc mode. I have not found a way to check
which mode is currently configured on a machine.

I hope for some means to
- check the ad-hoc status (if it's IEEE-ad-hoc
or proprietary ad-hoc mode), and
- be able to set it
with the wireless tools.

Right now I am sitting in front of a machine whose WLAN
did not work. (Hell knows why the system just ignores my
configuration in config.opts and wireless.opts) I wish I could
make the system show the current mode.

I think this is really a wish for the wireless tools package, not
    for PCMCIA.
