    I have a CBEM56G-100 Ethernet+Modem in a Dell Latitude C610, Redhat 8.0
The Ethernet connection works great at Uni, with fixed IP, but when I use dial-up connection from home, the modem connects fine, log-in script works, but when I am "connected", I can do nothing. Even the ping doesnt work.
Doing ifconfig ppp0 I saw that the IP address is the same of the ethernet, I think that's the problem, but I couldnt fix it... any help? any idea?

    thanks in advance
    Juan

I don't think this is a PCMCIA issue.  If ppp0 is being configured for the same IP address as you have when you are directly connected then it sounds like PPP is misconfigured.  Your PPP tool should have other options for getting the IP address.

        Hi Dave!
thanks for your answer and... you were right
I used the "NOIPDEFAULT" option for pppd, and it worked. I thought KPPP does this automatically, but it doesn't.

        Regards, and thanks again
        Juan
