PCMan File Manager would be perfect if the user could
select his own prefered columns with the detailed list
view.

For example, I would want to disable the "r/w rights"
and the "owner/group" columns that I consider useless
for my use. I prefer to keep the maximum of place for
the filename.

(Nautilus is able to do that)

I totally agree with this request!

I first step would be to be able to sort prefered columns, and keep those settings. A second step would be to completely remove useless colums. For example I generally need badly so sort and check files by date, while I don't bother with the "type" (we can see if it's a folder or by extension if it's a text file or a music file!), the permission and owner are quite useless too. The last modification is the last in line, and it needs to have a wide window open to see it.

most of pcmanFM is a good product (lubuntu 12.10)

but i agree this type/descriptive column is a "nightmare"
it is useless (file suffix and icons logo are more than enough)
it is stucked on the left in the usefull windows part unstead of the size / date column

and this bloody thing unlarge itself randomly taking all the window space
when you bump on large description like "microsoft word document"
moving the usefull size and date columns OUTSIDE the windows

if you dont want to make it optionnal or positionnal
    move it on the right
at least discard the auto upsize

it will be very usefull if you could select AND SAVE one or more of this options
    * disable auto enlarging (yes/no)
    * column order (from left to right)
    * visible column (yes/no for each column)

but thanks for the job already done

This feature is implemented in current GIT sources for LibFM and PCManFM.
    Thank you very much.
