This is probably rather a glitch than a bug, but it does give a bit of an unpleasant look-and-feel:

Currently, with folders like "best of 90s vol.2", extension column will show as '2' because the dot is recognized and everything beyond the dot is regarded as "file extension".
However, that's a container of files, i.e. a folder, not a single file.

This is what happens in v1.2.0. Lubuntu Trusty.

Well, in difference with Microsoft software, in the Unix systems such thing as 'extension' does not exist really, all suffixes are just parts of name given only for convenience and file type is determined by the file contents and some file system properties instead. The 'Extension' column contains just a last suffix of the file name, nothing more, it does not affect file processing in any case. That is also documented in the NEWS file.
Well, if you think it is an inconvenience then we can adjust the behavior in next feature version later (the 1.2.x is in feature freeze state now). Let us know if you need this, please.
    Thank you very much.

Yes, I do need it since I'd rather prefer white space to garbage output in the Extension column like e. g. '10' when the folder is .gstreamer-0.10 .

For that reason, extensions will mostly be useful for "alien" files such as files that reside in Windows format on (shared) NTFS partitions like e. g. 'instructions.txt'. Whereas this definitely makes no sense for folders whatsoever.

"Well, in difference with Microsoft software, in the Unix systems such thing as 'extension' does not exist really,"

Though it may show as such, I haven't ignored this fact. :)

Anyways, there is another idea: consider making it optional in the settings, so you aren't "doing it solely for me" :) And other users will have a way to turn this off if they feel like it.

Let it be a feature request for 1.3 then.
