I'm using PCManFM 1.1.0 and normally if no configuration file exists PCManFM will create a default one and view_mode is set to 0. But for example this configuration file will cause PCManFM to load the value 2 for view_mode:

[config]
su_cmd=gksu %s
[volume]
mount_on_startup=0
mount_removable=0
autorun=0
[ui]
always_show_tabs=1
win_width=1680
win_height=1003
side_pane_mode=2
show_hidden=1
sort_by=2

    We hope this issue is completely fixed in the Git repository recently.
    Check it out when it's possible for you and if the bug still exists then reopen the report, please.
    Thank you very much.
