#418 Emacs: Arithmetic Error under LXTerminal and XTerm

When attempting to start emacs from lxterminal, emacs does not start and the terminal displays the message, "Arithmetic error". In addition, the same error is present when launching emacs from an xterm.

Stopping lxde (sudo /etc/initi.d/lxdm stop) and issuing the same from the command line successfully launches emacs.

Ubuntu 10.04 Server (x86). Kernel 2.6.32-24-generic-pae. Fully patched as of the date of report (17-Feb-2011).

I don't think this bug is related to PCManFM so maybe this is not the right place to report it.
LXDE bugs belongs to the bug tracker on http://sf.net/projects/lxde/
Besides, you can try to catch the crash with gdb to see what happened.
Maybe it's a xemacs issue. Try to test it under pure Openbox environment to see if you can reproduce this.
Basically we didn't do any "magic" in our DE which might cause the crash.
