Is startup-notification really required for pcmanfm to
run? The current svn copy won't build without it.

    Currently startup-notification is required.
    This is used to provide visual feedback when launching
    applications and opening files.
    Currently, there is no better solution.

    Sorry to break back in on this, but why is it *required*? I have no use for startup notification of any kind and every other package on my system works without it. That it's required *in order to get the feature*, I understand, but the feature itself shouldn't be required.
