Allow ability assignment method change on summary screen -------------------------------------------------------- Key: CODE-676 URL: http://jira.pcgen.org/browse/CODE-676 Project: Code Issue Type: New Feature Components: Needs Verification Review Reporter: David R. Bender SF - ID: 661873 Last Update: Settings changed ( thpr ) Details: Please add the ability to change the ability score assignment method on the Summary screen, underneath the ability score grid. As it stands right now, if I want to change the method I am using to assign ability scores, I have to open the settings dialog, choose the method, then open a new character. If the next character I create uses a different method, I have to go through that again. Ideally, this should work as follows: The method specified in the Settings dialog would be the default, appearing as the selected method on the Summary screen when a new character is created. A drop down box with all of the choices defined in Settings would appear below the grid with the ability scores. Choosing a method would dynamically change the scores to the base scores as defined by that method, even if the scores have been modified, and also display points left, or points already assigned, as or if appropriate. I think it would be more trouble than it's worth to figure out what the status of the new method *should* be based on the old method, but that's just me. As soon as a class level is selected, the ability score method choice would be disabled, reverting to display only. At that point, it would no longer be possible to change the method, however changing the scores themselves should still be permitted according to the rules for that method. Now PCGEN (via CMP) has been given permission to do a small subset of this by WoTC for a limited time. The whole design etc around this area is the way it is because we have to be able to rip it out ASAP. Hope that helps! K TM SB PS: Deleting this FREQ Date: 2003-02-25 13:22:08 EST Sender: botelle Hide Logged In: YES user_id=595243 Wow, the ability score really has been pared down. In older versions, it had its own dedicated pane and had different roll methods and different point buy. I would like to have a separate pane for abilities, giving people the ability to choose the different roll or point buy methods and letting it roll stats for them on that screen (maybe even a scan roll - rolling at set intervals until you stop it). Whom do I speak with about this? If there was a concerted decision not to do things this way (which seems likely given the path that ability scores have taken), then I don't want to mess things up, but it does seem like it would be easier to use this way..
