I don't think it's wise to throw another discussion up at the moment, as that would only distract right now. I'll start a discussion on this once we have finalized one or more of the other discussions. I will try to push more on those (Post more active myself, WAKE UP calls once per week, Polls if nothing comes forth, etc). -- Frank ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Andrew McDougall (tir-gwaith) Date: 2006-08-22 19:27 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=208239 I see CHOOSE as a simple chooser. I don't see ADD the same way. I know a few coders want it that way, but it way overcomplicates things. We definitely need an ADD function with PRExxx. I just don't like the syntax. To do this, I think we need to take ADD:xxx back to the drawing board. ( ) isn't used anywhere else, and we could probably design this better with two parse characters instead of one. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Frank Kliewe (frank_kliewe) Date: 2006-08-21 10:00 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1241568 Needed? Yes. But I'm not sure on the proposed syntax, though. When we recently discussed the ADD:FEAT tag it was suggested that an ADD tag should really just add something and the selection should be made in a seperated chooser. The suggested syntax would actually go in the opposite direction. Tir, would you like to comment? -- Frank ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Martijn Verburg (karianna) Date: 2005-09-27 05:08 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=252169 Still need? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Eric Beaudoin (ericbeaudoin) Date: 2005-07-02 08:11 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=324612 There are two things to think about here: ADD:xxx()|PRExxx i.e. a way to embed a PRExxx tag to the ADD tag so that the tag as a whole is apply or not. This is how it is embedded with other tags and ADD should not work differently. The second thing is that we also want something to work as a filter to the list of things to add. This is list aggregation, it should not use PRExxx tags. It should stuff like TYPE=xx, TYPE!=x, LEVEL>=n, PCQUALIFY=YES, PCQUALIFY=NO, etc. Let's not use the PRExxx tags in the list aggregator on account of the pain we will feel because of the fully automatic machine gun that will repeatedly shoot our foot at high speed. So, for this FREQ, we should use a syntax like: ADD:<add type> [ "|" <optional parameter> ] "(" <list of choices> ")" [ "|" <optional pretags> ] Make sense? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Andrew McDougall (tir-gwaith) Date: 2005-07-02 05:08 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=208239 What, no syntax suggestion? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=384722&aid=1231444&group_id=25576 |
