Category: None Group: None Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Submitted By: Eddy Anthony (eddyanthony) Assigned to: Aaron Divinsky (boomer70) Summary: [KIT] FREE:YES does not function without points in the pool Initial Comment: When used on a FEAT or SKILL line FREE:YES should allow the feat or skill to be granted for free without suptracting from the PC's pool. This functions as long as the PC has points to spend in the pool although the message about not enough skill points is displayed even when they are granted for free. But if the PC has NO points to spend in the skill or feat pool the items are not granted even when FREE:YES is on the skill or feat line. In this situation skills with FREE:YES at the end of the kit will not be added because all the skill points have been spent but one at the top will work. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: Aaron Divinsky (boomer70) Date: 2005-12-12 10:10 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1249558 This seems like it is just a bug which I can fix. On a related note however should FREE:YES avoid all restrictions or just not subtract from the appropriate pool. I know there was a request to allow skill ranks to go over MAXRANK. If you specify FREE:YES for those ranks should it allow you to go over MAXRANK? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Eddy Anthony (eddyanthony) Date: 2005-12-12 10:09 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=886893 We do need a way to raise the max rank, I've seen several feats that do this, but I don't think this is the way to do it. Go ahead and fix it but don't set it to bypass the max ranks. We need maybe a BONUS tag so we can specify specific skills and how much to raise it. I'll post over to experimental to start the disscussion. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Frank Kliewe (frank_kliewe) Date: 2005-12-12 10:04 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1241568 About MAXRANK: The few cases where I needed that, I would not have wanted to grant those ranks for free. The skill points I needed were available. But we do have a SKILLMAX rule in the gameMode, that displays in the HouseRules section under "Bypass Max Skill Ranks". I think this is currently not used with the Kits. At least with 5.9.4 (haven't tried a later autobuild) when I checked this rule, the Kits still wouldn't apply the ranks over the limits. I think the SKILLMAX rule should be used for this purpose, as it will allow the user to make the choice. -- Frank ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Aaron Divinsky (boomer70) Date: 2005-12-12 09:23 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1249558 This seems like it is just a bug which I can fix.
