=2D----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 A few days ago, someone got in touch with me who wanted to use PCEmu in a=20 commercial product, goodness knows why. I redirected him to the list, but I= =20 had a quick look at the PCEmu license, and found this: =2D ---snip--- Permission is granted to use, copy, modify, and distribute this software and its documentation for any non-commercial purpose, ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ provided that the above copyright notice appear in all copies and that both that copyright notice and this permission notice appear in the supporting documentation. =2D ---snip--- Oh, dear. That would make PCEmu non-DSFG free. Given that the PCEmu licensing is a bit of a mess anyway, would it make sen= se=20 to try and get this sorted out? We'd need to contact all the various people= =20 responsible. That would seem to be: David Hedley & the University of Bristol (main code): custom non-free licen= se Myself (X menuing, assorted fiddling): MIT Michael Hope (assorted other fiddling): unspecified --- could you make a declaration? Eric Korpela (EMS): MIT Miscellanous (MFS, doesn't work): BSD-ish The MFS stuff is owned by Carnegie Mellon, but their license seems to be=20 compatible with the MIT license. The difficult bit would be the core code,= =20 because it seems to be co-owned by the University of Bristol. Any suggestions? =2D --=20 +- David Given --McQ-+ "Quantum materiae materietur marmota monax si | dg...@co... | marmota monax meteriam possit materiari?" --- Henry | (dg...@ta...) | Beard +- www.cowlark.com --+=20 =2D----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.0 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQE+Y4P0f9E0noFvlzgRArfPAKDWu/A+ZhI5rw+Kzi0Tnc19FpM9QwCaAivs T+5Y6Vo/tVwj7wgM+ljZQII=3D =3D3DrT =2D----END PGP SIGNATURE----- |
