  • I've been using (the unix compiled) pcal, first on my NeXT and then on my Macs, since 1993. I use it via several dozens of quite sophisticated shell scripts producing plain text output with options such as " pcal -w -c". This is probably the most frequently used unix utility I have and my entire life depends on it; e.g., every morning I send myself an email about my daily tasks and miscelleneous reminders such as birthdays. It really is perfect for managing my life. For instance, I type "a med:" in my terminal window and I can see every medical appointment I had or will have since 1993 or "pco 2" tells me what to do after tomorrow. Do I want any new features? Not really. Well, it would be nice to be able to write "7th day in July & Sept" instead of writing separately "7th day in July" and "7th day in Sept" for recurring events. I am thankful to the guys who wrote and contributed to pcal. PaulN from CMH P.S. I am surprised that there are so few reviews.
