Password Safe fails to authenticate on 3 different systems
Popular easy-to-use and secure password manager

Good day.
I've been using Password Safe since 2013 and today is the first time I've seen a major problem.
How is it possible for Password Safe to fail with "Incorrect passkey" on three different PCs, on different databases including the IBAK databases using the same password I've been using for months? Furthermore, one of these systems is not even in the same building or network.
Each one of the three are different versions, v3.26, v3.35 and 3.47.02.
Is there any chance I could salvage the information in these databases?

Hi Rony, thanks for your reply.
I've been using this password on all my machines for over 6 months now, it's
branded into my mind. In fact I successfully opened the database to copy a
password in the morning, and later in the day, all machines failed. I also
thought of ransomware or some kind of malware and did a Malware-bytes scan
which came up clean.
This problem started yesterday, July 11th, could it be something in the code
that may have triggered this?
Regards,
Bjoern

Subject: [passwordsafe:support-requests] #508 Password Safe fails to
authenticate on 3 different systems
Hi Bjoern,
Different machines, versions and database files... the only thing in common
across the systems is the user. The only explanation I can think of that
accounts for such a wide failure is that the user is typing in the (same)
password incorrectly on all machines. Either that, or there's another
commonality that I'm missing.
(Another possibility that crossed my mind was that ransomeware infected all
machines, encrypting the files with a key that the criminal would provide
upon paying ransome, but surely you would have noticed that with other
files)

No, I can't think of anything in the code that would trigger what you're describing. Also, no one else has reported anything like this.
Perhaps another program (anti virus?) is interfering with the file access on these machine. You need to find out (a) what's common to these machines that (b) has recently changed.
Two of my machines are using the same AV, the third another. All 3 have
been using the same AV for years now. The first two with the common AV are
used for leisure, the third for work. THe work machine has nothing in common
with the other two. They've never even shared a USB device. Furthermore, the
work machine runs is always connected to a VPN.
