The file you're interested in is by default named pwsafe.psafe3. After resore, look for this file, copy it to wherever you wish, and the point PasswordSafe at it.

A less important file is pwsafe.cfg. This contains the last settings used, such as the size and location of the PasswordSafe window, names of recent databases, etc. If you don't restore this file, PasswordSafe will use reasonable defaults instead.

I hate to sound so dumb but where do I look for the file? Wouldn't it be wiped out by the Restore? Where do I copy it to? And how would I point PasswordSafe at it sense it will not be there? The Complete Restore brings my PC back to when I first got it.

No, I'm the dumb one here for assuming that I understood what you meant by "complete Restore".

    • You should look for pwsafe.psafe3 under Documents/My Safes (or "My Documents/My Safes" for XP). Just copy it to a thumb drive before restoring. in a pinch, you can mail it to yourself.

    • After Restoring your PC, install PasswordSafe, copy the pwsafe.psafe3 file to the same location that you found it, and then run PasswordSafe. Use the ellipsis ("...") button to open a file selector, choose the pwsafe.psafe3 file you've copied, and all should be well.

Do you need more help, or can I close this ticket?
