If you don't mind an older version, 0.98 should be in the 16.04 repository already. If you want something newer, then newer versions of Ubuntu have 1.00. 1.03 just hit Debian testing, so I expect it will be synced to Ubuntu soon. Otherwise, yes, you'll need to compile it yourself.
