For Synchronization, there are a few features that would be useful. I listed them in what I would consider order of usefulness.
Add the option "Add Synchronization Entry" along with the "Add Entry" and "Add Group" options.
Add a "Prevent Synchronization / Merge" check box to the edit dialog. When checked, that entry will not be included in any Merge or Synchronization operation.
When merging or synchronizing, add an option to "Select individual entries" to include in the process.
In each entry, add a check box labeled "Lock if Synchronized." If this is checked in the source database, the entry that is synchronized cannot be modified in the target database. If an attempt to synchronize in the other direction is made, the synchronization will produce a warning explaining that a locked entry can only be synchronized in one direction. If the box is unchecked at a later date, it will unlock the entry in the target database upon the next synchronization. The option would only prevent the modification of the entry, not the viewing or duplication of the entry.
Put a small padlock icon next to each field in the edit dialog. By default, it will appear unlocked. When clicked, the padlock with change to locked and prevent that field from being edited after synchronization.
Expanding the synchronization ability of PasswordSafe could lead to significant changes in how the application can be used. I have searched for a product to securely centralize passwords and control access to individual entries based upon user credentials. I have not found anything that can accomplish that in a secure and simple manner - free or otherwise. Is there a forum for such dramatic changes or ideas to be submitted for long term changes or even a new application?
Whether these features are implemented or not, the product is still great and extremely useful. Thanks
