I do not want to have to think each time about whether the application I am launching is an executable or a URL, and have to use Ctrl-L or Ctrl-R depending on which it is.

I simply want to memorize one shortcut key, Ctrl-L, which launches the application (and optionally performs the autotype).

Ctrl-L should launch a URL or an executable depending upon which one is provided. The Edit Entry page should display a radio button to choose whether the entry is bound to a URL or an executable, and depending on which is chosen, either the URL or the Run Cmd field would be visible on the Edit Entry page.
