Disable 'Generate' Password button

    Thanks for the newest 3.29 version of this wonderful piece of software!

    This update solved most of my questions but only one still exists...

    Is it possible to create an option to disble the 'generate' password button in
    the 'Basic' window. This (I think) could be easily done in the Entry 'Password
    Policy' for each record.

    I use the generated password into a protected pdf file which I launch used the
    'Run Command' and having stored the password in the clipboard. Of course when
    the 'Generate' button has accidentally been hit, the PDF files isn't
    accessible anymore.

    Thanks for your kind words.

    I'm not sure I understand your description.

    • Are you using 'run command' with the entry closed (e.g., via the right click menu or Control-R)? If so, Generate shouldn't be visible.
    • If you only need the Generate Password facility, you can use it via Manage->Generate Password
    • If you have the entry open and mistakenly press on Generate, then just click on Cancel instead of OK, and the generated password will be discarded.

    Or am I missing something?

    Thank you very much for your kind reply. Here are my settings:

    In the Edit Entry, Additional, Run CMD: images\files.pdf

    --> Double Click Action : Run Command

    --> Shift + Double Click Action: Copy Password to clipboard, minimize

    I launch the 'run command' with the entry closed but the notes field in the
    Edit Entry window is used regularly for different purposes. That's why the
    'generate' button is dangerous because the password is used to open fe. the
    PDF files.. The Run CMD is used for launching PDF files, JPG and XLS files.

    You can't recover the password after you have hit the 'Apply' button, which is
    of course correct.

    An option to disable the 'generate' button in the 'Password Policy' window
    would be very handy.

    I hope this clarifies a bit ...

    for an individual entry:

    Edit an entry -> Additional Tab then see "Password History"

    • your prior passwords will be there
    • you can customize settings for the individual entry
