Passwordsafe V1.23 on Linux (Xubuntu 24.04.2 and Mint 22.3 Xfce)
Request: add a "Terminate Program" button to the password popup window.
Priority: low.
At present, when a logged-in session times out a popup window is displayed in which to re-enter the password to continue using the program. This security precaution is correct and is fine when you want to continue using the program.
Because the popup is a modal dialog you cannot go back to the main window to terminate the program by Ctrl-Q or clicking on its "X" window control; clicking on "Cancel" or the control "X" on the popup only removes the popup - which is then immediately redisplayed. This is irritating when all you want to do is terminate the program. A terminate button on the popup window would save a few moments' time in this circumstance.
(I would prefer not to work around this minor inconvenience by increasing the timeout interval.)

In earlier versions, the unlock dialog included an “Exit” button. After thorough discussion and consideration of the pros and cons of such a button in the context of a locked database, it was decided to remove the button in order to simplify the dialog and preserve data integrity.
However, there are use cases where abruptly exiting the application via a button in the unlock dialog can be problematic. Preventing such situations simplifies further use of the application.
A little extra security can sometimes feel a bit inconvenient.

Thank you for that quick and comprehensive response. I had not (obviously) found the discussion, and having read through discussion 1122 understand the reasons that the Exit button was removed from the Unlock dialog.
Just a minor observation: on the Xfce environments noted in my lead post, the procedure suggested in Discussion 1134 - click Cancel or "X" on Unlock dialog then "X" on main window - does not work, because dismissing the Unlock Dialog also iconifies the main window, and clicking on the icon brings up both the main window and the Unlock dialog.
I have no objection to closing this request/ suggestion.

This is actually the desired behavior, which may differ under certain window manager (Gnome with certain settings could be one such candidate).
