would it be a lot of work to have pwsafe POST to the onedrive or google drive api instead of writing to a file?

hi, would it be a lot of work to add code to have pwsafe GET from and POST to the onedrive and/or google drive api instead of writing to a file on the filesystem? Then pwsafe on different devices could share the same file without conflict (maybe).

Interesting idea - I've set up a feature request ticket to track it:
    https://sourceforge.net/p/passwordsafe/feature-requests/837/

I share my password safe database with myself via OneDrive. Mostly it works, but I seem to be building up a number of copies of the database.

One thing that seems to happen is that sometimes I find the database locked when I access it from an other system hours later. Can't quite figure out why that would be. I'm not sure it this is an effect of the OneDrive synch, or what.

I looked for a way to configure pwsafe to automatically close the database after an idle period, so there wouldn't be a conflict. There's some stuff in Options that sort of heads in that direction (like "lock database on minimize") but it's not clear whether they would address this.

If you are a super paranoid, security conscious user, this may not be a
      good idea.

I used to use a shell script wrapper to do the timeout. Some time ago an
upgrade to the linux version eliminated the need. Browse through the menus
on whatever version you are using.

Pretty sure was able to get this to work by choosing one instance to be the 'master' where I make any edits, opening its instance as R/W and then other instances as RO. Havent used it yet extensivly though yet. But can test out ?

Has this been solved yet? PWSAFE is being troublesome as it does not recognise the password on my Surface laptop and it keeps on creating another database for each device.
Very dysfunctional if I may say so.

You should be able to just load the database file into password safe like usual and enter password and have access to the database. like after the password safe loads up, you should be able to select the location/file from there and then enter password like usual.

No. Instead, the programme has created another database for my other
device. Recently though the database will not work from the second device
        at all.

So your saying one device works? ; if so, why can't you just exit the PWSafe program on the device that works, copy it(the database file) to a USB flash drive, plug that into the second device, then copy that database file to the location where PWSafe uses the database file and when you load up PWSafe on that device, it should be able to open that databse file like usual. if not, you should be able to manually select it once you load up PWSafe.

because regardless of whether your second device creates a new database you should still be able to load up the database file on that second device using the above method. this is what I do on my few devices that all are using the same PWSafe database file and I have no issues doing so.

Ah I understand you. This means that every time I make a change I have to
copy it on a memory stick to the other computer. Not ideal but workable.#
            Thank you.

Exactly. that's what I always do (I have been using Password Safe since roughly mid-to-late 2000's) as it should not be much of a problem once things stable out for you as it's not like you will need to make changes to the PWSafe database file much after a while once you get your accounts setup with secure passwords as you don't need to change them unless you think one was compromised.

I am sure you get the gist of it ;)
