Password Safe 32-bit 3.47.02

C:\Users\<Username>\AppData\Local\PasswordSafe\pwsafe.cfg becomes corrupted. You know when this happens because launching Password Safe produced the following error dialog box:

Configuration file error:
No document element found
C:\Users\<Username>\AppData\Local\PasswordSafe\pwsafe.cfg
offset approximately at <number></number>

Password Safe then starts with a default configuration.

If I view at the configuration file when the error occurs, it appears blank, yet the filesize indicates the file is not blank.

I cannot recreate this bug but it has occurred on 3 different Windows installations of 3.47.02.

Not much I can do here without a way to reproduce the problem.

Can you attach a corrupt configuration file to this ticket, or send me one to ronys at pwsafe dot org?

I appreciate the issue is tricky to fix if you can't reproduce it.

What I can say is that it happened to 2 users running 3.47.02 and then a few days later it happened to me, again running 3.47.02 which prompted me to raise this as a bug.

I don't have a copy of a corrupted config file, but if it happens again, I will send you a copy.

This just happened to me as well. I updated to the latest version but it didn't fix the problem. Do I need to uninstall and re-install? If so, will my safes be preserved?

No need to reinstall, just delete the Configuration file C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\PasswordSafe\pwsafe.cfg
and restart PasswordSafe. No data will be lost.</username>

Path that can be copy & pasted directly:
        %localappdata%\PasswordSafe
