Platform: Windows using Password Safe v3.42.1

This is not a major issue, but when using Find and Find Next (F3) on a database with many levels of subgroups and starting with the Password Safe window having a horizontal scroll bar in it's leftmost position, when the found entry is in a low level subgroup where the entry title is outside the visible window, the TreeView will automatically scroll horizontally to the right, where it looks like it tries to center on the title of the entry. I'm not sure if this is/was considered a feature, but I don't really see a need for this behavior as I now have to sometimes manually scroll back to the left to access the Tree controls for expanding or collapsing a Group. See picture in BR 1275 (https://sourceforge.net/p/passwordsafe/bugs/1275/) for an example of the behavior.

I can reproduce this but I believe that the entry should be in the middle of the display so that the user can select an action via right-click context menu.

The alternative could leave the found entry completely off the screen (depending on the number of subgroups involved and their length) such that the user can't see it at all or click on it.

Given that the user will know that they have this depth of subgroups and length of these groups and names, they could ensure that the display width is such to accommodate this if they so wished.

BR1275 is unrelated to this issue except that it shows the scroll bar. It was a different problem of nt restoring the view as it was before minimizing.

Personally, I would prefer that it didn't do the automatic horizontal scrolling, but I can live with it.

    Thanks.

I would like to revisit this BR. It also was never closed.

My request is that the Tree View not automatically scroll horizontally for any reason as it is unnecessary and affects usability for the typical case. Currently automatic horizontally scrolling occurs as described in the original BR. Additionally, once the Tree View has scrolled horizontally, it will remain so after editing an Entry or closing the Find toolbar etc. User action is often necessary to move the horizontal scroll bar back to the leftmost position.

The workaround where the user ensures that the Password Safe window is wide enough so that the horizontal scroll bar not appear may be okay for some. However, I use a smaller Password Safe window and even with many levels of nested groups, for most common sense window size, the text of entry titles will still be visible without the automatic horizontal scrolling. The corner case where the entry title may not be visible if automatic horizontal scrolling is not used just seems to unlikely to occur in practice and if it does, the user can manually horizontally scroll right in these uncommon cases.
