Welcome to your wiki!
PassEncryption is an encryption software and password generator.
He's able to:
- Encrypt and decrypt files larger than 5GB (depending on the available memory).
- Generate multiple strong passwords on the basis of only one chosen by yourself.
The last stable major version of PassEncryption is the release 2.
All 2.x versions are compatible with each other to recover your passwords or Encrypt/Decrypt files.
From version 2.2 and more, you can generate complex passwords with letters, special characters, bit, etc,
but your old passwords prior to this version were composed only of digits.
PassEncryption 1.X are deprecated, and incompatible with the 2.x,
(for example, it's not possible to decrypt a file with version 2.x, which had been encrypted with version 1.x).
When you first use, you are requested to choose a main password.
From this password, Pe will generate a unique password for each website, account, e-mail, that you have asked.
This process goes through a more efficient encryption: RSA encryption, in particular for the transmission of confidential data on the web.
When you type the name of a website, it will automatically generate.
You can then choose the length and composition:
- With a size between 1 and 12 characters.
- Between 8 modes: 'digit','alpha-digit','alpha','half-alpha-digit','bit','hex','character','symmetric'
* digit: just figures.
* alpha-digit: all letters and numbers.
* alpha: only letters
* half-alpha-digit: a sequence of digits only, and then only letters
* bit: composed 0 and 1
* hex: hexadecimal characters (0123456789ABCDEF)
* character: special characters (%$!#..)
* symmetric: composed of strictly symmetrical letters (not the password, ex: O,X,I,H)
You can copy the password to the clipboard or save the website (when you type, it will appear below, press the down arrow to insert)
To encrypt a file, select one from the list of your file, with our built-in explorer (you can use the UP arrow in the top left to go up one directory).
Then, choose the strength of the encryption between soft, fast, optimal, hard and extreme.
Force is increasingly powerful as the encryption time is long.
For a more powerful force, The key to encryption will be more complex.
Finally, press "encrypt". Then it will generate two files in the same directory, a "crypted" file of the same size as the original file and a "keyfile" file.
The "keyfile" will allow you to decrypt the encrypted file, its size is between 100kb and 8mb.
Moreover, the "keyfile" itself is encrypted, and incomprehensible for a human.
You can also open the folder who contain the last crypted file.
IMPORTANT: PassEncryption doesn't affect your files, he reads and creates a new encrypted file with the same name as the original file with extension ".crypted"
To decrypt a encrypted file (by PassEncryption 2.x only), select the key associated with encrypted file (named "keyfile_"+name of the crypted file) and press "Keyfile" button.
Then choose your crypted file and press "Decrypt"
PassEncryption automatically recognizes the encryption strength.
Then it will generate the decrypted file as your original file, in the same directory.
In the settings section, you can set PassEncryption for:
- Delete crypted file and key file after decryption(by default: yes).
- Use PassEncryption in full screen(by default: no).
- Open encrypted file folder after encryption or encryption(by default: yes).
- Save the password the next time you start PassEncryption(by default: yes).
- Enable or disable automatic updates(by default: yes).
You can choose from many themes for PassEncryption according to your tastes(Drak theme, minimal theme, azure theme.. by default: light theme), press "Apply theme and restart" to apply the chosen theme.
If you have some problems or you want to reset your password, you can press "RESET ALL SETTINGS", then PassEncryption will return to its factory settings.
Note: For reset password, disable "save password" in settings, and restart PassEncryption to choose a new. All your passwords associated with your old password, change automatically with your new main password (because they are generated from this one).
thank you for installing PassEncryption !
