#33 failure to restore image to partition smaller than original

I had 4.2 GB of data in an 8 GB partition. partimage made a 1.4 GB gzipped image for me. I tried to restore that image to a 6 GB partition, thinking that it is enough to contain the 4.2 GB of information. But partimage failed, saying:

The partition is to small to be restored:
Original partition size:........8595385344 bytes
Destination partition size:.....6448587264 bytes
Killed

This is very childish. The restore operation should be allowed irrespective of the size of the original partition so long as the target partition is enough to contain the data.
