A solution we are seeking with parchive is the ability
to create parity info for a set of discs (ie, parity on
a set of CDs, such that if one CD were lost, the parity
info combined with the remaining CDs would allow for a
full recovery).

While this is technically possible, by creating images
of the discs at the create and repair points, this is
presumably not feasible given that these discs are used
instead of harddrive space in the first place. The
solution is for the parchive software to prompt for a
media change, and scan each disc in sequence.
