All based to support the multi thread with the Intel Thread Building Blocks 2.0 library.
I have personally tried this, and I will tell you what, about 30% faster on my Intel Prescott 3.0 ghz with only Hyper-threading.
For all of those with those Core Duo's, I am absolutely positive you will like this better.
I have tried like 10 different ways to create and delete parts of files to have this version work on, and I can't get it to break.
This is very pleasing to use.
Integrated using this new version into ParBuddy.
check it out.

ater checking the logs ive found out that the multicore version of par2 took about 2 times more time to check my downloads than it took winrar to unpack it.
the old version of par2 takes about half the time.
dont have a clue why or how but this info might help you to make par2 better.
alrighty, good luck with the program ;)

I noticed on the latest version it states you support a "-d" option for directory paths. Does this mean it can finally store paths? And can it recurse sub-directories too?
I tried using the option and all I get is this error:
base directory for hierarchy support must specify a folder
All, I have come across a new compilation of the par2.exe program that has built in multi-thread support.

Could it built under linux, say is Intel TBB available under linux?
Here is Intels website that explains everything you need for Linux, and that it's now opensource.

Now that's a cool program, is it possible to limit how much CPU usage it can use?
my Q6600 stalls when running this version of par2.exe.
im using it with 0.4.2 Final by The SABnzbd-Team.
when i check the taskmanager then it barely uses any CPU time.
im using the par2.exe from SABnzbd 0.2.5 now and my problem has disappeared.
im running win xp sp2, btw.

I tried using the option and all I get is this error:
base directory for hierarchy support must specify a folder
And the command line I use was:
par2 c -d -u -v -f0 -r15 -b1024 -t+ foo.par2 c:\temp
