Par2 files not recognized

I recently downloaded an archive that had one missing file. I tried adding the Par2 files to repair the missing file but the program failed to recognize the par2 files and kept on requesting additional par2 files. The Par2 files appear to be named correctly for the archive. I am stumped. Can anyone please advise on a possible solution to this problem. Thanks
