New feature for smaller par files

    would it be possible to have the par program split a large file into chunks (with out actually splitting it) and make a par file for it. For example have it create a pars file for every 15M bytes on a 600M divx movie. That way if part of the file became corrupted, (cd got scratched) you could have it repair the damaged section. This would make it very usefull for backing up large files were your not concerned about them going missing but maby getting corrupted.

      A PAR 1.0 program cannot do this, but a PAR 2.0 program can.

      The PAR 2.0 spec was developed towards the end of last year and allows the creation of PAR files without the requirement to physically split the source files into equal sized parts.

      With PAR 2.0 you can create PAR files from a single source file, or from hundreds or even thousands of source files. When creating PAR files for multiple source files there is no requirement for the sizes of the source files to be related.

      Additionally, the resulting PAR files need not have sizes that are related to the sizes of the source files.

      I will be releasing a beta test version of a PAR 2.0 program in the very near future.
