Paperboy RSS V 1.0 Released!

After a year of development, the stable version of Paperboy RSS is finally being released. Paperboy RSS is a very flexible system that can be used for everything from converting RSS into HTML and viewing it in your local browser, to being used as back ends for data managers and content systems. Paperboy takes files from the Internet and uses XSLT to convert the downloaded documents into any other form. Paperboy even supports extension modules and registers additional XSLT functions to do such things as to difference new and old versions of files. Paperboy also supports joining multiple documents to create aggregated output. The Paperboy RSS daemon has been much improved in the stable release, and now supports many configuration files with the ability to run paperboy at specified intervals and convert documents into a universal format. The Paperboy library has also been further developed and allows programs to interface with the paperboy base program in a cleaner way.

Target date for v1.0.0 release decided: 2005.10.05

There are still some things to work out before v1.0.0 and the official non-beta release of Paperboy RSS, but we've decided to shoot for the 5th of October, marking the first anniversary of the project.

Paperboy pre-beta

The new release of Paperboy looks to be the best and most comprehensive release to date. New features include a new XSLT function that will allow you to see if an item is new since the last download. The new version also includes a new daemon program that will parse configuration files and run paperboy every so often. Since Paperboy-GUI (the user interface to the paperboy base program) is written in a different language and is more than just an extension program, it will be released in a different package. find out more about Paperboy at http://paperboy.sourceforge.net
