As I recall this was the whole "build stuff with led for xbox" branch. I had a whole ccgame build system for windows which I think got merged into trunk in one of my epic feature merges. Here we go: r1654 "Eliot: Branch for originals tracking updates in led and possibly xbox ccgame build system" Looks like this was a project I started for xbox support in led but didn't finish. I have a strong interest now in finishing this code. > > branches/eliot/AudioBug1 > > http://pantherengine.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/pantherengine?view=revision&revision=1666 > There are only a few changes, but they look like they might be worthwhile. > Yep. According to my commit messages, your package manager broke stuff in PantherAudio, and this fixes it. Probably should just be merged to trunk but tested first. :) > > branches/eliot/LedClickOnce1 > > http://pantherengine.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/pantherengine?view=revision&revision=1642 > This seemed pretty 'old" and maybe just a test you were working on. > It was the start of a Windows Installer auto-creator for led. I ran into really hairy issues having to do with generating code signing keys and all sorts of related 'security' crap that I didn't really have much interest in since we only needed ccgames anyway for WoL. I'd leave the branch since if we ever want to do Windows Installer stuff some of this may be useful. > > > Thanks, > Wood > > > > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ > This SF.net email is sponsored by > > Make an app they can't live without > Enter the BlackBerry Developer Challenge > http://p.sf.net/sfu/RIM-dev2dev > _______________________________________________ > PantherEngine-class mailing list > Pan...@li... > https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/pantherengine-class > > |

Do we want to do a release while everything is pretty much working before we go mucking around with the code more? -E |

Hey Wood, I'm pretty sure no one is checking e-mails anymore. The few of the guys I've talked to have all said that their feelings are thus: class is over, Imagine Cup is over, WoL is no longer an issue to them. However, this would have been a Luis or Casey thing. I'll try and contact them directly if you haven't already. It would be nice to have any and all files. -Chris On Fri, Aug 20, 2010 at 7:51 AM, wood <woo...@gm...> wrote: > This change didn't look like it made it into the trunk. There are three branches which look like they have draft changes. Can you tell me if they should be merged with the trunk or not? branches/eliot/LedContentTracking http://pantherengine.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/pantherengine?view=revision&revision=1667 This one looks like it has the most changes and is probably worthy? There are a number of other earlier revisions to this branch as well. 1667 is just the last one you made. branches/eliot/AudioBug1 http://pantherengine.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/pantherengine?view=revision&revision=1666 There are only a few changes, but they look like they might be worthwhile. branches/eliot/LedClickOnce1 http://pantherengine.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/pantherengine?view=revision&revision=1642 This seemed pretty 'old" and maybe just a test you were working on. Thanks, Wood |

This change didn't look like it made it into the trunk. Can you tell me if you think it is worthy of review or should I just consider it a test. http://pantherengine.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/pantherengine?view=revision&revision=1662 I also wasn't paying close enough attention to your changes, did the original models for the widgets make it into the repository? If not, can you send them to me so I can archive them? I want the originals for files like rotate_widget.FBX and scale_widget.FBX. Thanks, Wood |

I finally got some extra cycles and recreated my dev environment on a new computer. I also went through the defects and closed ones I knew were complete and added one or two more. You might have already seen some of those automated notices. Not sure what I'll be working on next, but probably a new simple arcade style game for testing purposes. I have some specific questions as I dig through SVN and will send out a few emails. Please answer if you can, this help smooth out the process of getting this going again. Thanks, Wood |

Well I am now working full time at Tapulous (we make iphone games such as Tap Tap Revenge) and I don't have much free time anymore. I might be able to do some shorter, more manageable features such as ccgame builds for xbox, I don't think I can take on such a large task as xbox xnb recompilation anymore, at least not on my own. It would be helpful for me to actually get stuff done if we set aside a weekend day our two as a code jam when we were all working at the same time. Otherwise, to be honest, I don't think its going to happen, for me at least. I still would really like to do a new release... Let me know if you guys are interested in a code jam and we can try to set it up. Eliot On Jul 29, 2010 2:49 PM, "wood" <woo...@gm...> wrote: Just wanted to give an update. I didn't make any headway either. I'm hoping to take a look at things today with WoL at least, see where we stand and what is and isn't working. Just wanted to give an update on this project. I'm fully committed to continuing on with development, but have some dead lines at work and haven't been able to spend any time on it. I'm going to at least give a weekly update even if I didn't get anything done. I don't think the next week is going to be much different, but hopefully I can get a couple of hours in on PGE. Hope you are all enjoying your summer. Wood |

Yeah, we should make a snapshot of the current WOL so we always know where we stand if changes we make in PGE break it or if changes in WOL itself are broken. Agreed. The trac list is in need of an update, but I'm unsure if Casey finished a bunch of those tasks. I need to run the trunk (i just updated my trunk) to verify the current task list. I don't understand the Lua code that drives WoL particularly well. I have worked with it a bit, but only to find where to add audio and performance measuring calls. For now I'd just like to make sure the current WoL game stays (or, if necessary, is made) compatible so we can move forward on a PGE release. Then perhaps go back and work on the game. With only 3 people we need to focus our efforts, unless you want to dive into WoL on your own as I know you have experience working with the lua end of it. Also we need to ascertain what version of the game and what version of PGE the final release of WoL was made with, when last I checked I'm not sure I was actually able to run Katlan's BaseLevel7 with PGE trunk HEAD. Okay, I will do my best although my future is uncertain as I am currently in the bay area interviewing for a job at Tapulous. I should know within a few days if I got it, and that would impact how much time I'd be able to put in. What would help me the most would be if we got all our tasks organized somewhere, either on the PGE trac or the rally I set up a while ago. (Trac is probably easiest for know.) As I said I'm not totally clear on what our requirements are for the next release milestone and what parts of that are my responsibility outside of the xbox build system. Maybe we can discuss here or on google wave what milestones/stories we need for the next release and split them up. I'm going to continue to develop this. I've looked at the task list a few times and need to build the latest trunk and see where we stand. So we have Eliot and Chris and Me. I think we'll make a great team. I would like to see us work on two or three week sprints. The one week sprints were not working. Take small tasks over a three week period and make sure it's only a passive project and doesn't interfere with real life. Hey team, I'm not sure if anyone is checking e-mails besides Eliot, Wood and I, but I'm going to fix any really minor problems with WoL, pack it up, and set up a playtest to get player feedback. I think we are sorely in need of that before we continue to "finalize" so much of the game, especially if we intend to go to XBox. I'll continue to work on the game as if it's being built for the PC, and once a playtest is run on the game as is, I'll work to simultaneously get it setup for XBox controllers. That shouldn't be hard, but it'll require some Lua Helper code I'm guessing. Luckily, the controller code for XBox is incredibly simple, even I could probably do that and using XBox controllers lets us keep working on the PC. I know Wood is looking into PGE, so I'm not going to even touch that topic. As far as WoL goes, Eliot, if you have a little time, I'd like over the next two weeks (two week sprints sound good?) if you could look at WoL and consider some ways to increase performance. I don't know where David left that, but I don't remember seeing anything checked in for performance specifically. I'm going to work on game features, like the win/lose features. Last time I played, you still couldn't win, but maybe Katlan put that in before submitting to the last round. If so, I'll move on to just cleaning up things and getting us a playable game for the playtest. I'll also use the time to set up the playtest. If anyone else wants to work on something and they have a little time over the next two weeks, say so! Let's finish this! -Chris |

If it turns out we are the only ones, Eliot, then we'd need to decide if we want to continue or not. I'm not that strong of a programmer at present, but I'm trying to slowly learn everything about C# that I can. I know Wood wants to see it continue, and has said he could do some work on it, and you have thrown yourself headfirst into so much of it you have become a strong programmer as well. I guess it depends on who wants on board, or we start looking for others to come on board and continue. Hey everyone, I don't think very many people are reading these e-mails any more, but I'd like to keep going if we can. Is anyone interested in continuing on with PGE and getting a release of WoL on XBox? It would be great if we could somehow put this out on the XBox Live marketplace eventually. If, unfortunately, no one wants to continue on with either PGE or WoL, is anyone interested in some other, smaller projects? I've developed a simple educational art game for kids for the new Windows 7 phone. I have a basic platformer game with a fully developed story and level-by-level breakdown done to be created in XNA, as well, totally 13 levels if I remember off the top of my head correctly. Or there is my more bold Zombie College series (think old top-down shooters/RPG games like Chrono Trigger for play-style and art). That has three games, all concepted, the first one fully developed level-by-level, just needs to be taken to production. That I wanted to do in Flash, GameMaker, or XNA. I really think we should continue with PGE and finish WoL, though, if for no other reason than to put it under our belts. Let me know where everyone stands please! Otherwise... well, we came a long way to not finish! -Chris 714-225-2796 On Thu, Jun 17, 2010 at 8:12 PM, Chris Boyd <bo...@ma...>wrote: > Let's only give Casey a little time to answer this but: how's that GUI > designer you were building for the engine? > > > On Thu, Jun 17, 2010 at 5:38 PM, wood <woo...@gm...> wrote: > >> We are going to fix or dump anything that isn't compatible with Xbox. >> David's changes were to the GUI system and will require some reworking or we >> could also decide to jetison those changes as we don't really need two gui >> systems. We are going to fix or dump anything that isn't compatible with Xbox. David's changes were to the GUI system and will require some reworking or we could also decide to jetison those changes as we don't really need two gui systems. Arguments welcome. Even if it is better if it isn't compatible with xbox it is a lot worse than the old gui code and as I remember the incompatibility issue with Xbox was a misunderstanding of some xna internals so you don't want to carry that sort of disfunction with you anyway. Right on. I don't have one so that will make it tough to test the build system all the way through, so if I keep working on that i'm just going to assume msbuild is doing what i tell it to until someone else can deploy the ccgames led generates.
