In build/gcc*.unix/makefile (maybe in other makefiles, too), change
COMMON_DEFS = -Dunix
to
COMMON_DEFS = -Dunix -D_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64
so that be.file can write files larger than 2GB.

    An essential, yet easy to implement enhancement.

    Should this be done for:
    * all 64-bit builds
    * all 64-bit UNIX builds
    * all UNIX builds
    * all builds

    Please advise.

    Thanks

    Matt

    I think it should be done for all 32-bit builds. As for 64-bit builds, it should be superfluous, but I'm not sure.
