AFAIK pano2qtvr depends on QuickTime which is not available on the machine I want to run this on. My goal is to create the QTVR file from other formats without using QuickTime. Not to read QTVR as input. IMO QTVR is a one way street (not to say a dead end). Good for output (to display in QuickTime on the computers that can) but no good for input/edit/long term storage.
