I installed the latest release on RH 7.3 system,
i did make, make install, then cp'd pam_mysql.so
to /lib/security, then made the relevent changes
to /etc/pam.d/smtp and the courier files.

But when try to retrive mail i get -err login, if its a
localuser's mail im getting (ie he is in the passwd file) it
works. I've checked the logs and it looks like
pam_mysql isn't even connecting to mysql.

Did i miss a step somewhere ? what am i supposed to
do with that 'dynamic' directory that gets created during
make ?

I could really use the help,
thanks

    are you putting the correct parameters after

    password sufficient /lib/security/pam_mysql.so
    user=auser passwd=apassword host=localhost
    db=adatabase table=shadow usercolumn=uname
    passwdcolumn=passwd crypt=1

    so that it connects properly.

    I am seeing something similar. I have the module set up
    similar to what is shown above, and just get this in the
    MySQL log:
    ---snip ---
    Access denied for user: 'UNKNOWN_USER@localhost' (Using
    password: NO)
    ---snip ---

    Although I added the correct username and password parameters.
