#56 Does not want to "play" with Apple Remote Desktop 2.2 Client

Hello,

I just downloaded and installed Palm VNC 2.0.5 on my
Treo 650. All excited, I tried to connect to my two
Xserves. First I logged in to the Xserves and set the
Apple Remote Desktop Client 2.2 that is running on both
servers to allow VNC connections and assigned a
password to each.

Then I set up the connections in my Treo through Palm
VNC. I hit the connect button and I either get
following error message:

Connecting to dns1.germcan.com:5900...
Network connected
read failed (Err=0x1212)
ERROR: cannot initialize dns1.germcan.com:5900
Connection closed

Or I get another error message that says something
about the Palm VNC version being lower than the Apple
Remote Desktop client VNC version on the target machine.

Very strange. Is there a work around? Or any way to
solve this issue?

There are issues with some newer VNC servers and protocol
versions. Need to investigate.

This is impacting me as well. I'm unable to connect to any
ARD 2.2 machines.

Using PalmVNC 2.0.5 build 214

I know that it is not high priority to support ARD, but I
need this so badly, and it use to work. Curses on apple for
upgrading their product out of compliance with PalmVNC.

Although this report is quite old and VNC works when using the alternative VINE server - does anyone know, how this can be fixed? Using ARD would be much simpler...
