Hi, I like the fonts you make very much, especially Naskh Basic. The only thing I find difficult is that the space is extremely wide between U0631 REH and U06A9 KEHEH and similar pairs This issue affects all the fonts in your package, as far as I can tell, but personally I am most concerned about Naskh Basic since that is the one I want to use.
The space between these letters ends up being optically much wider than a word space. I am attaching a screen shot shwing how some Urdu words look displayed in Libre Office for Macintosh. I don’t know if the font already includes kerning for these pairs — maybe somehow kerning is not working in my operating system or word-processor set up? Or does kerning need to be added for these pairs?
I did open the font in Font Forge, but I am afraid to tinker with kerning, especially somebody else’s kerning, it is just too complicated. And it is impossible to make KEHEH have less advance width because then it will run into ALEF, or, at best it may collide with hamza (etc.) on top of ALEF, for example. The issue also applies before GAF U06AF, and after DAL U0625, and likewise for all the letters with similar shape.
Can this be fixed at all? Thanks very much!
Thank you for your kind words and encouragement. i have not added kerning pairs so far. I'll try to add them.
Hello,
I have added kerning in all the fonts now. Please take a look. Thanks
