#16 Cannot save or quit

This is an inconsistent bug on 2.4.1, i'm not sure what causes it, but it may be related to having multiple images open at once. When it reaches this state, The Save and Save As... do not work at all: Save does not persist the changes to the disk, and Save As... does not open the save prompt window. In both cases, it plays the system error sound, and the "unsaved work" dot in the top left corner does not go away. In addition to this, attempting to close the window with cmd-Q, cmd-W, menubar options, or by clicking on the close button plays the system error sound and does not close the window or quit the program, necessitating a force quit.

I am having this same exact problem. had to manually restart my computer because paintbrush wouldn't quit

What I noticed is that when I paste clipboard content in a new image (I use Mac OS X's cmd+shift+ctrl+4, then in Paintbrush I use File->New From Clipboard, cmd+shift+N), if I do not save the image right away, and I use the text tool to write something on the image, then the situation described above will occur (Save does nothing, Save As does nothing, Quit does not qork, I need to Force-Quit). If I save the image before I use the text tool, then all will be fine, I can add text, save, save as, etc., not problem.

Edit 2: Also, if that matters, in my case what I do when I get to that situation, to avoid loosing my work, I use the selection tool to select the whole buggy image, copy it, use "new from clipboard" and save that copy right away, then continue to work. When I quit I will need the Force Quit command, but at least I can continue to work.
