If I open an image file and do some drawing on it, the first "save" command works and changes the file. However, if I make more changes and try to save again, the file is not altered. If I close the program and re-open, the same situation holds -- I can make all the changes I want and issue "save" command successfully. But no changes after that first set are able to be saved.
I am using OSX 10.11.6 (El Capitan), if that helps.
Same for me. This is bad broken. I can save the file once. If I want to make any additional edits, I have to close the app and reopen it. Otherwise, it silently does not save my changes. I'm running Sierra.
Same here. I've lost hours and hours of work.
Hi, I have been a great fan of Paintbrush on Mac for a long time. now, recently since about last month (Feb 2018), I have the same issue noted by others reported here. Its really frustating and makes such a great software totally unusable. I am running Sierra 10.12.6, and I even tried uninstalling and reinstalling paintbrush, issue still doesn't go away. Thank you for looking into it.
God bless.
I have run into a problem recently with saving files in Version 2.2.1 (20171227) on Sierra 10.12.6,. which may be related to this issue, not sure. Sometimes, when I try to save a file (either created new or opened existing), the Paintbrush menu item turns black, as if the menu was entered, and the error sound is made, but file does not save, and there is no file save dialog for save as, so can't save the file. Workaround is to select all, copy to clipboard, create new from clipboard, then save that. And then I have to force quit the app.
Happens to me, with version 2.2.1 on Sierra. In some cases, I'll create a new image by pasting from another source, and then save it ... the saved file is completely blank/white (confirmed via hex dump of file).
I'm experiencing this today for the first time. High Sierra 10.13.4. Paintbrush Version 2.2.1 (20171227)
Mac El Capitan...The same problem but I install the old one (vrs 2.0.1.) it workvery well and I block the update for the last one.
Same here on 10.14.1. Lost an hour of editing.
Hi
I have also El Capitan and problems without fix, I delete the Paintbrush
(last vsr) and I have the old one in my backups (vrs 2.0.1.) so I instala
it and everything is OK, and I don't care about "news" in the update

#11Hi

until an update is released I have been zooming out and using the actual select tool to select the entire canvas, then cut and paste it into a new note in MacOS' Notes app. Able to get my changes out that way.
Same problem with version 2.3 under OSX 10.11.6 El Capitan I was able to save exactly once and never again. Do you have to "donate" to save?
I just discovered this issue today. I installed paintbrush on my new mac and went to use it while tutoring. I like to go step by step and capture the images as I go and share with the student.
I couldn't get it to save my changes after the first save by simply selecting "save."
I also tried doing Save As and I was asked if I wanted to replace the existing file, to which I said yes, and it appeared to go through, but when I looked at the file, it did not have the changes.
I also tried doing Save As and giving it a new name, but it just saved the previous version without the new changes.
This is frustrating. I have loved Paintbrush for years and years now for educational use as a math teacher. Can we get this glitch fixed? It looks like it has been a known issue since at least February of last year!
I am running on Mojave version 10.12.5.
I have the latest version of Paintbrush version 2.3.1
Hi
Try the "old" version 2.0.1., I have also that problem with OSX 10.11.6
(El Capitan) I change to my old Paintbrush and now it is OK.

#11Hi everyone,
Unfortunately I have not been monitoring this forum, otherwise I would have addressed this issue long ago. I can repro this on my local enlistment and will attempt to have a fix available by the end of the week.
Hi,
Hopefully sending a "thanks" email isn't a violation of sourceforge
etiquette! :)
thanks!
Stan

#11Okay, this nasty bug is fixed in Paintbrush 2.4.1, available now.
I know this is an old thread but I don't think it's been fixed at all. I have the newest version And all it does when I try to save is just give me the error sound and nothing happens. Even when I try to close out the application it does nothing and gives me the error sound. all I know is the version is 4. something

Now this thread is reaaaallly old, but I just realized that I'm unable to save using version 2.6 on Sequioa 15.3.1
No error sounds, no pop-up box to select folders, nothing.
This happens whether clicking "Save" or "Save As"
