I'm having a bit of problems loggin in. I've searched the archives and can
find nothing specific.
I've created a successful install at nubeli.org/pagetool (though I had to
configure most of it manually). It looks like it reads the pt_config.inc
file successfully and can acess mysql, however, it doesn't accept my logins.
I've tried adding an additional user to the admin to see if that works but
no luck. I just want to see if anyone can help me with this before I try
reinstall and look through the code.
Thanks for the help!

How manual was the install? If it was just manually creating
pt_config.inc, index.php and test.php then there shouldn't be any
problems. If you had to manually create the tables using the
tables-sql.txt file, and then manually install the data again via the
data-sql.txt file, then that would cause problems.

And correct again.

Was this by adding the user and the password to the table directly
using, for example, phpMyAdmin?

If, as I expect, you did create the users in the table manually the
problem is that the password stored in the table isn't the actual
password but the password encrypted.
If you use the following in the passwd field of the pt_core_users table:
you should be able to log in to the admin section with the password:
I'd suggest that as soon as you do log in then you change that
password to something less obvious!
Let the list know how you get on.
