Hi, here is a new test version of Apache-PageKit for mod_perl 2. http://eg.2bz.de/Apache-PageKit-2.14_01.tar.gz 1.14 - the eg site use DBD::SQLite now. This obsoletes DBD::CSV, SQL::Statement and Text::CSV_XS. ( Boris Zentner ) - fop_command can be disabled with fop_command =3D "" ( Boris Zentner, Shimon Rura ) - Remove Apache->request calls from Apache::PageKit::Edit just to make apache 2 changes smaller ( Boris Zentner ) - Fix: Parse Accept-Charsets more pettier ( Boris Zentner ) ! If the client browser has no accept charset header or no good one, deliver in the default_output_charset and set the charset in the content_type header. ( Erik G=FCnther ) - Fix uri_prefix in conjunction with can_edit ( Boris Zentner, Erik G=FCnther )=20 --=20 Boris |

HI Henry, it looks that you missed libapreq2. It includes Apache::Request and=20 Apache::Cookie for Apache2. you can get it here: http://search.cpan.org/CPAN/authors/id/J/JO/JOESUF/libapreq2-2.02_02-dev.= tar.gz If you have any more trouble im happy to assist further. I must be missing something obvious. I'm working on installing PageKit_2.13_01 since I've got mod_perl2 (and Apache2) running here. Oh, I see. I will try setting the fop_command to a dummy and doing the postprocessing in pkit_output_filter based on the content_type. Can I get the content type via pagekit, like from the apr object? If so, there's no need for an extra parameter to pkit_output_filter. shimon. I don't quite understand what your suggestion for using pkit_output_filter means. Why wouldn't this work for PDF? When you mention the view-to-mimetype mapping, do you mean that in the sitewide pkit_output_filter subroutine I should check the current request's mimetype (as determined by it's View and Config.xml) and then filter differently depending on the view? That sounds like an ideal solution; I am happy to have the filtering tied to a specific view or mimetype. What would stop me from doing PDF generation here? shimon. I'd like to produce PDF views of some of my web pages, but rather than using Apache FOP I'd like to use LaTeX. I would produce LaTeX code using template files, and then feed that into pdflatex, which would output PDF for the client. Is there a way I can setup pdflatex (or probably a wrapper shell script for it) as a postprocessor for a certain pagekit view? Does PDF generation with FOP have to be a special case or is there a generic way to setup a postprocessor for a certain view? I think I could hack this using a specialized (fake) fop_command setting, but that is kinda dirty. I was thinking I could set fop_command to point at a postprocessor-wrapper which would look at the input file and decide based on that what actual processor it should feed the input to. Suggestions? shimon. |

Hi, here is a little script that might be handy for you all too. It simply renames everything in your application. This is usefull if you start a new application and want to reuse some parts of your old one. Or just start a new one from the Apacche-PageKit/eg site. It is really simple just look at the example section bellow. Perhaps it is usefull enough to bw part of a future Apache-PageKit distribution. What do you think? Overview This script renames a Apache::PageKit Application and all the modules. Bellow $pkit_root/Model. Requirements You need a working Apache::PageKit application. Not running, you need only the files. Usage pk_rename_app.pl MyNewAplicationName pk_rename_app.pl pkit_root MyNewAplicationName "MyNewAplicationName" is the new name for your application. "pkit_root" is the name of root of your application. That is the Directory where Config, Model, View and Content is. Description The script renames the application INPLACE so do it on a backup. It reads the Config/Config.xml to figure out what your old name is. Then all is the file Config/Config.xml and all your *.pm files are scanned and and replaced with your new App's name. As a last step your directory Model/oldname is moved to Model/newname thats it. This might become handy if you start a new application and you can reuse a good part of an older one. It is also helpfull if you work on more sites and you have some virtualhosts running Apache::Pagekit applications. Example Now a little example that clones the example site to anotherone. cp -r eg a_new_site pk_rename_app.pl a_new_site MyNewSite AUTHOR Boris Zentner bz...@2b... -- Boris |

Hi, I like to add some comment tags for the *.tmpl files. For Designers and Coders, to share some thoughts related to the page and for comments in general. In contrast to <!-- //--> I want that the comments are stripped out of the delivered page. A Pagekit internal comment. As a last remark, I'm not sure if the comments should be 'ballanced' or not. <PKIT_COMMENT> Hello </PKIT_COMMENT> strips anything between <PKIT_COMMENT> and </PKIT_COMMENT>. <PKIT_COMMENT> <PKIT_COMMENT> Hello </PKIT_COMMENT> </PKIT_COMMENT> - Ballanced comments strip all from the above. Also they have the advantage that you can comment parts that have already comments inside. - Unballanced leave a </PKIT_COMMENT>. And may force you to review the commented area. <PKIT_COMMENT> <PKIT_COMMENT> Hello </PKIT_COMMENT> For ballanced comments this leave the first <PKIT_COMMENT> in the source. unballanced comments clean out all. So what do you like in Apache::PageKit? Ballanced comments or unballanced comment or no comment tags at all? -- Boris |

Bill, This confusing behavior is probably due to PageKit's use of HTML::FillInForm. This module "conveniently" fills in default values for form fields using values of the same name passed in on HTTP request inputs. I have often found it messing up my forms when I wanted some special control. (And yes, it took me a while to figure out what the heck was going on.) You can turn off this behavior for specific pages by adding to the <PAGES> section of Config/Config.xml. For example: <PAGES> <!-- Avoid use of HTML::FillInForm --> <PAGE id="/foo/bar" fill_in_form="no"/> <!-- end Avoid use of HTML::FillInForm --> </PAGES> Hope that helps. Good luck, shimon. Hi folks, it's been a while since I posted to this list. I'm seeing some strange behavior, and I'm trying to debug. <FORM ACTION='<PKIT_SELFURL>' METHOD="GET"> <MODEL_IF NAME="RESOURCE_ID"> <INPUT TYPE="HIDDEN" NAME="resuorce_id" VALUE='<MODEL_VAR NAME="RESOURCE_ID">'> <INPUT TYPE="HIDDEN" NAME="resource_id" VALUE='<MODEL_VAR NAME="RESOURCE_ID">'> </MODEL_IF> <form ACTION='http://...(correct url)...' METHOD="GET"> <input value="656" name="resuorce_id" type="HIDDEN"> <input value="" name="resource_id" type="HIDDEN"> Why does MODEL_VAR interpret the value of the variable correctly when the name of the form field is different from the name of the var, but the variable is interpreted as a blank value when the names are the same? This markup is in the template of a sub-component, but I'm setting the RESOURCE_ID output in the model code for the page handler. It shouldn't matter, and in fact I see that the correct value of 656 is communicated to the component view. It's just that it doesn't like me naming the form field "resource_id". I also tried changing the value of the model var to "BASE_RESOURCE_ID" and the same behavior persists; the value is blank when the form field is "resource_id" and the value is correct when the form field is "resuorce_id" or anything else besides "resource_id". Perhaps the 'not_found_page' option in the global config part is what you= =20 emulate here. Take a look. --=20 Boris |
