Agency Personnel and Training Database The scheme for the Agency Personnel and Training Database has been posted and is ready for downloading by any interested folks. A page describing the database scheme package can be found at http://openises.sourceforge.net/ema_software_agencydb.html The database scheme was created by Mike Harris, who has done an excellent job putting this together. It is based on a series of independent Access databases that were created a while back. The package consists of 5 documents that describe the database scheme, as well as other points related to the development process. We are looking for folks who would be interested in tackling this project. There is little doubt that this project would become the core of other projects, as most other projects would need to get some of the information contained in this database. As with all of the items on the OpenISES Project, the software will need to carry an open source license. We are looking for a MySQL (preferred) back-end, with a web-based front end. This would allow the software to be used by nearly anyone, regardless of the underlying operating system. EMS Training Materials We are currently working on some preliminary EMS training materials. These materials, being created using the Open Document format, will include lesson plans and presentations. We hope to have the first of these available in the next couple of weeks, followed by some templates if all goes well. We will keep you updated. Thanks The OpenISES Project has received a lot of attention since the article appeared in OSNews at the beginning of the May. We thank OSNews for helping us get the word out about this new project, and where we hope to go. As always, we are looking for anyone who is willing to help created software or training materials that will be of benefit to any Emergency Service Agency. Please contact us if you would like to help out. Bob Austin |
