I have an Exchange 5.5 mail server I am trying to get the GAL from via LDAP. This is my first time working with LDAP and I am not sure what I should be using for a "base". I know that LDAP is configured on the server and I have successfully used a snippet of ASP + IIS + ADSI code from microsoft (Q241474), so I know I should be able to get something to work. But basic LDAP querying doesn't work right. I am sure it is in how I am attempting to connect or query or something, but I just can't see it. I tried pabber, but I get no results. Is there a log of the connection I can look at? What should I use for "base"? TIA. |

Hi Folks, I started in a new company and here they have an Exchange Server, that only send e-mail via the Propietary Exchange Protocol and it doesn't have open imap or pop. Anybody know how can I check my email from Linux/Unix machine? Regards.- Pablo.- PS> Sorry about my english. ===== Pablo Jejcic WEBMAIL ICQ: 82084880 Yahoo Messenger: hache_the_boss Cobertura especial de la Copa Mundial de la FIFA Corea-Japón 2002, sólo en Yahoo! Questions for those of you who have been using pabber... 1. Were you able to install with little grief? 2. Were/are you able to access your GAL? 3. Do searches seem to return reasonable results? 4. Have you used a different mail client than Pine and have addresses been properly added? That last question is a big one for me...one feature I'd really like to add is a setting for popular mail clients and have pabber parse the address properly for each client's book. -- Marc A. Get it at http://pabber.sourceforge.net I fixed a bug that made pabber crash after it had been idle too long and a new search was attempted. Also, you can now launch pabber without a connection to the server. It will gracefully inform you of a connection problem, rather than crashing out. Enjoy! ===== Marc A. Thanks for joining the mailing list...hopefully, we can all have some fun while trying to banish Exchange from our desktops <grin> If you didn't know already, Pabber 1.0 was released last night --- get it from the homepage at http://pabber.sourceforge.net This version includes all the functionality that I envisioned for the project; that is, it searches the GAL and allows you to add names to your .addressbook. Now, I use it with Pine. If anyone uses a different mailer, I'd appreciate feedback as to whether it nor it works properly. Future goals: 1. Add Preference dialog that allows you to set server and base and other items and stores the settings in a pref file 2. Test pabber with other mailers. Allow user to designate the mailer that they're using and pabber will adjust it's output accordingly. 3. Add other search criteria...my experiments with searching on other fields have been somewhat less than fruitful. Thanks for the feedback so far and enjoy pabber! Marc ===== Marc A.
