I.E.: User configurable options.
One of the areas of confusion for most newbies with Cygwin is how to
configure it for their use. Oh, there are standard defaults to help
with that issue, but I think that an environment variable isn't the best
way to handle this configuration. I would prefer that a structure be
created and written to file that would be configured with an external
program and then read by Cygwin upon initialization and change of file.
Then if I wanted to change the option, I wouldn't have to exit all of
the running processes to affect the change. Once the file changed, the
change would immediately affect every process.
Hmm... hearing myself on this, the configuration tool would need to find
the Cygwin processes and perhaps warn that each of the processes would
be affected by the change and then ask to continue the change. Anyway,
this would still make p4wposix a better Powertool 4 Wisehackers. ;)
