First, the p4eclipse project is defunct. I recommend you use P4WSAD instead, available from Perforce using this update site: http://www.perforce.com/downloads/http/p4-wsad/install/ I suspect you're hitting a terminology barrier - you say you were able to check out a file. To change the file, you need to open it for edit. Try rt-click->Team->Open for edit. It would also be well worth your time to read the "Short Intro to Perforce"[1], which explains Perforce terminology. Hi, I think the code is in net.sourceforge.perforce.[api|core|ui], but I've never been a developer on the project, just written some docs. The project has been dormant for over a year now, so any development you are willing to do is welcome:-) I've not been using perforce for a while now, since my current job uses cvs, but I'm changing jobs again next week, so who knows:-) The tiki page is probably down due to updates on sourceforge, changing the php or mysql versions, or libraries that the wiki depends upon. I'll try and take a look at it, to see if I can get it working again, but it might take a few days (have to finish this project *before* I change jobs...). Wouter |

P4eclipse 0.6.24 is a great plug-in -- thank you for writing it!=20 The plug-in stopped working as of 3.2 M3. Does the CVS repository = contain the code for it? Which modules constitute it? It seems that net.sourceforge.p4eclipse.* has been deprecated. What about the tiki page? It is down, and CVS is not having a good day either. Anyone willing to comment? Thanks, Branko |

I'm certainly glad to hear that P4WSAD is meeting peoples needs. I certainly don't blame someone for dropping p4eclipse since it's been stagnant. I have to agree with Bill. My current employer has standardized on P4WSAD and given the lack of current energy for p4eclipse, there is no compelling reason to switch. 18 months ago, I announced that I was stepping down as the project leader for P4Eclipse. I requested someone to step forward and take over as leader, promsiing to give what support I can. No one did, and during that 18 months, the project has been completely dormant. Once again, I'm asking for someone in the community to step forward and take the project over. It seems that it's not compatible with Eclipse 3.2, and someone else taking the reins is the only way it's likely to get fixed. So please, someone, here it is. Take it. David |

Hello, I'm using p4eclipse on Mac OS X and have just upgraded to the latest P4V after we upgraded our server. The p4eclipse plugin leaves files r/ w and sets the "locked" bit, but P4V sets file as r/o and "locked". I've seen notes from Perforce indicating this is the new behavior on Mac OS X for P4V. p4eclipse complains about the read-only files, so any idea how I can get the p4eclipse client to set files r/o and/or work with them? Or do I have to go back to an old P4V client? Thanks, . Hi, Anyway to change the status of a Perforce Job within the Eclipse IDE? We use Jobs for a fix per one ticket, when the code gets submitted into dev the Job automatically closes. If the developer needs to integrate this same fix into a different branch they go find their job, reopen and reuse to submit into the branch versus creating a new Job for every branch code line submit. Is there a better way perhaps? Todd Zarnes Eclipse SCM |

Yes, the .p4ignore file supports wildcards. However, in addition to that, the plugin will honour everything that can be found under Preferences->Team->Ignored Resources. -Boris On Wed, 9 Feb 2005, John Kelly wrote: > .p4ignore in any directory will cause p4eclipse to avoid including > matching files in that directory. An important point is that the file ONLY affects the directory it's in. You cannot put "target/*.class" in and expect it to work. David |

.p4ignore in any directory will cause p4eclipse to avoid including=20 matching files in that directory. This also includes subdirectories,=20 such as a "target" directory (which gets rid of all the .class files on=20= my environment). The notes indicate it is similar to .cvsignore. The file we use in our main project directory looks like this, for=20 instance: target .classpath .project maven.log It stops p4eclipse from looking at the the eclipse ".classpath" and=20 ".,project" files as well as anything in the generated "target"=20 directory. I think this may support wildcards such as "*.class" but you'd have to=20= check on that. . I've turned on the "Prompt to add 'new' files before changelist = submisstion" option. This would be a good option IF it didn't include all my .class files in = the list of new files. I remember seeing something about fixing this, but I can't find it now. Is there any way to exclude certain file types from the list of "new" = files? |

I followed the installation instructions on installing into Eclipse
3.0.1, using the 'unstable' version. All seems to install OK, but when
I try to open the Perfoce perspective I get the following alert:

When running with Eclipse 3.x, the Perforce perspective will be quite slow when opening folders that containing several sub items. That's a bug that is caused by the attempt to display folders/projects that are already checked out into the workspace in a different color. Can you check if using the perspective with Eclipse 2.1 is faster for you? -Boris On Wed, 26 Jan 2005, Wouter Lagerweij wrote: > On Tue, 2005-01-25 at 12:46 -0800, Zarnes, Todd wrote: > > Why is our Perforce perspective slower then mud when our java > > perspective is much faster?
